Christie`s serves vintage vodka set
Some say keeping vodka in the fridge makes it taste better. But what may make the drinking that more pleasurable would be a 19th Century silver enamel vodka set created by a key Russian maker which is up for sale at Christie`s.
ґThe flask, six cups and a tray were created by Fabergй`s Feodor Rьckert The set is part of 175 lots of silver, enamels, porcelain and bronzes, with a pre-sale estimate of $3 - 4.3 million.
Christie`s sale of Russian Works of Art, scheduled to take place on April 16 in New York, is said to feature "one of the strongest offerings of cloisonnй enamel to come to the market in years."
Highlighting the section of the so called "cloisonnй enamel" is a silver-gilt cloisonnй and casket by Feodor Rьckert, from a Maryland private collection.
Described as "an excellent example of Rьckert`s late work in the Neo-Russian style", the cover panel depicts Tsar Ivan the Terrible admiring Vasilisa Malentieva, after the painting by Grigory Sedov. Considered to be the artist`s tour-de-force, the original painting was created in 1875 and is on permanent display at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.
